Picture endless stretches of shoreline, historic piers, whale watching adventures and golden tans. Most beaches are an easy walk from the Metrolink station.
1. Head to the Oceanside Pier
This historic structure is one of the longest wooden piers on the West Coast. Take a leisurely stroll out over the Pacific Ocean, watch the surfers ride a wave or grab a bite to eat. From the Metrolink station, head southwest toward The Strand, turn right and walk 10 minutes to the pier.
2. Go whale watching in Oceanside
Sail with Oceanside Adventures on a fun two-hour whale watching trip from Oceanside Harbor. See up close whales, dolphins and other wildlife. Show your Metrolink ticket for a discount. It’s a two-mile walk to the harbor or easy ride with Uber or Lyft.
3. Hang out at the San Clemente Pier
A popular place for surfing, sunsets, fishing and beach relaxation, the pier is a short stroll from picturesque restaurants and shops. You're just minutes from the sand when you exit the train!
4. Walk the San Clemente Beach Trail
This 4.5 mile out-and-back trail offers access to an uninterrupted stretch of sandy Orange County shoreline and parallels the coastal train tracks, providing magnificent views of the shore cliffs and the vast turquoise Pacific waters. The trail begins at the San Clemente North Beach Metrolink station.
5. Visit an iconic surfing museum
Celebrate surf culture with colorful and engaging displays of the people, events and technology that make it so cool. Just a 10-minute walk from the Metrolink station.
