Public member of OCTA will lead the agency and Amante chosen as vice chair
ORANGE – OCTA Vice Chairman Peter Buffa was unanimously selected this morning as the new chairman of the Orange County Transportation Authority (OCTA) board of directors.
Buffa replaces outgoing Chairman Chris Norby, also the Fourth District supervisor, who continues to serve on the board. Stepping into Buffa’s role as vice chairman is Tustin Mayor Pro Tem Jerry Amante.
“It is an exciting and challenging time for Orange County as we look for innovative ways to keep our economy moving by advancing transportation projects,” said Buffa. “I’m honored to be selected by my peers to lead the OCTA board of directors in delivering transportation solutions that improve the quality of life for our residents.”
Buffa is one of two public members on the board of directors. He has been on the OCTA board since 2005 and contributed significantly as a member of several key OCTA committees: Executive Committee, Finance and Administration Committee, Legislative and Communications Committee and Transportation 2020 Committee.
Buffa and his wife, Sharyn, live in Costa Mesa. They have two adult children.
Replacing Buffa as vice chairman is Jerry Amante, who joined the board in 2006. In addition to serving on the OCTA board of directors, Amante chairman of the Foothill/Eastern Transportation Corridor Agency board of directors.
Also at today’s meeting, Garden Grove Mayor William Dalton was seated on the OCTA board, replacing outgoing member Mark Rosen of Garden Grove.
