Holiday Season Begins To Jingle With Special OCTA Bus Pass

Residents invited to save more than 50 percent off bus fares with OCTA’s Jingle Pass

 Nov. 9, 2011

ORANGE – This holiday season, the Orange County Transportation Authority (OCTA) is offering an unlimited-use bus pass for the second consecutive year.

The Jingle Pass is part of OCTA’s ridership program and enables riders to get where they need to go with less money out of their pockets. The special six-week Jingle Pass allows residents to reduce stress caused by increased holiday traffic and parking congestion while saving time and money.

The Jingle Pass costs $45, which comes out to only $1 per day, a savings of more than 50 percent off the regular bus fare. Last year, more than 3,850 passes were sold. Passes are on sale now and are valid from Nov. 15 through Dec. 31 on all local OCTA buses.

“We hope the Jingle Pass will encourage residents to ride the bus this holiday season,” said OCTA Chairman Paul Glaab, also the mayor of Laguna Niguel. “We encourage commuters to utilize the Jingle Pass and take advantage of what public transportation has to offer.”

The Jingle Pass is only valid on local fixed-route buses and not valid on express buses or ACCESS service. Quantities are limited and there is a maximum of two passes per household.

Passes are offered for purchase online at www.octa.net/buyapass, over the phone at (714) 560-5932 and at the OCTA Store which is open from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Friday at 550 S. Main Street in Orange.

Jingle Pass in sponsored in part by Titan Outdoor and The EcoChallenge by OC Waste and Recycling.
