Traffic detoured for up to four months to complete bridge construction
ORANGE – The southbound lane of Imperial Highway, between Orangethorpe and La Palma avenues in Anaheim, will close for up to four months beginning Feb. 13.
During the closure, crews will complete construction of the bridge over the train tracks at the Imperial Highway, Orangethorpe Avenue/Esperanza Road intersection. Once work is complete, both southbound and northbound lanes will move to the newly constructed bridge over the train tracks.
Motorists are encouraged to avoid the area and detour around construction by taking Kellogg Avenue or Fairmont Avenue to La Palma Avenue and continue east or west to access Imperial Highway or Lakeview Avenue.
The project is working to separate Imperial Highway from the existing rail crossing at the Orangethorpe Avenue/Esperanza Road intersection. The separation will eliminate wait time for motorists caused by passing trains and enhance safety by improving pedestrian accessibility. Drivers currently experience a five to 10 minute delay during peak hours as trains pass.
