Focus is proactively planning for the future of transportation

ORANGE – Newly selected Orange County Transportation Authority Chair Patricia Bates unveiled her strategic initiatives for the year ahead, placing the focus on continuing to enhance the county’s transportation system and proactively planning for the future.
Bates’ priorities call for meeting Measure M2 environmental program commitments, strengthening regional connections with partnering agencies and continuing to make positive progress on transportation projects.
“This is an exciting time at OCTA as we work to close out the original Measure M program and usher in a new era of M2 projects that will improve the way in which we keep Orange County moving,” Bates said. “My goals for the year are ambitious and that’s what the residents and voters expect.”
The 10 Strategic Initiatives unveiled by Bates today include:
Meet Measure M2 environmental program commitments
Link investments by allocating funds for major investment studies
Improve streets and roads
Keep freeways moving
Advance Measure M2 Go Local
Strengthen regional connections with partner agencies
Envision future transit by adopting a countywide strategy for bus and rail system
Advocate for process improvements by continuing to build a national coalition around the “Breaking Down Barriers” concept
Improve organizational effectiveness by adopting a five-year strategic plan
Address requirements associated with the end of Measure M
