WHY: | The $29.5 million Metrolink parking structure in Old Towne Orange is a part of the ongoing effort to accommodate the growing number of Metrolink riders and visitors to Old Towne. The parking structure’s brick façade reflects the character of Old Towne Orange and accommodates 608 parking spaces for transit and public use. The project calls for 500 of the parking spots to be used by transit riders, which will help expand access to the Metrolink train station and accommodate commuters who use nearby train and bus routes. The remaining 108 spaces will be available for use by the public visiting local shops and restaurants. The structure also includes six electric car charging ports, solar panels and 24 bicycle lockers to encourage commuters who ride their bikes to and from the train station. |
