SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO – Crews will perform nighttime work to demolish the south half of the Ortega Highway overcrossing of the I-5 freeway. The demolition work will take place starting Friday, August 2 at 11 p.m. to 7 a.m. Work will resume on Saturday August 3, at 11 p.m. and conclude at 7 a.m. on Sunday, August 4, 2013.

To complete this work and ensure public safety, the following night time closures will include:
• SR-74, the Ortega Highway bridge over the I-5 freeway.
• Mainline closure of the Northbound I-5 at Ortega Highway. Lane closures will
begin at Camino Capistrano, with traffic being diverted to the Ortega Highway off-ramp. Motorists will re-enter the I-5 freeway at the N/B Ortega Highway on-ramp.
• Mainline closure of the Southbound I-5 freeway. Lane closures will begin at
Junipero Serra Road, with traffic being diverted to the Ortega Highway off-ramp. Motorists will re-enter the I-5 freeway at the S/B Ortega Highway on-ramp.
• Pedestrian walkway across the I-5 freeway at SR-74, on the Ortega Highway bridge will also be closed during the demolition process.

This activity will take place over two consecutive nights, with crews demolishing one portion of the south half of the bridge one night, and the remaining portion the second night.
