OCTA Bike Rally Rescheduled for May 23

The public is invited to join OCTA for a 3-mile bike ride in Orange

ORANGE – The OCTA Bike Rally has been rescheduled for Thursday, May 23 because of forecasted rain. The seventh annual Bike Rally is an opportunity for the public to celebrate Bike Month by joining OCTA for a 3-mile recreational group ride. Originally scheduled for May 16, the event is now scheduled to start at 7:30 a.m. on May 23 at the Orange Metrolink Station, 194 N. Atchison St., and ends at 9 a.m. at OCTA Headquarters, 550 S. Main St. in Orange. Snacks, a raffle and guest speakers will greet riders on arrival at the OCTA building. Raffle prizes include a new bike, movie tickets, theme park tickets and bike accessories.

National Bike Month takes place in May each year and serves as an opportunity to showcase the benefits of bicycling and to encourage more people to ride their bikes to school, work or around town. For longer commutes around Orange County, cyclists can pair biking with a carpool, OC Bus or Metrolink ride.

Cyclists are also encouraged to pledge to ride their bike anytime during May on octa.net/BikeMonth to receive a coupon to Jax Bicycle Center and be entered to win a Trek FX 2 bike or a Fitbit Charge 2. Participants may also join OCTA’s Strava Club to track how many miles they’ve ridden during the month.
