OCTA Chairman Leads Student Bus Trip To Highlight Importance Of Public Transportation

Youth Summer Bus Pass is now available for those 18 and under

WHAT: Students from Crosby Elementary School in Garden Grove will join Chris Norby, chairman of the Orange County Transportation Authority (OCTA), on a bus ride Friday to learn about public transportation and the options it offers for those who don’t drive.

Students will board route 54 at Chapman Avenue and West Street and ride the bus to the Orange Metrolink station. From there, they will hop on the train to San Juan Capistrano to visit Mission San Juan Capistrano.

WHEN: Media arrival at 7:45 a.m.; bus departs at 8 a.m., Friday, May 9.

WHERE: 12000 block of Chapman Avenue at the southeast corner of Chapman Avenue and West Street in Garden Grove.

WHY: The trip will give students an opportunity to learn about OCTA’s service and the convenience of the Youth Summer Bus Pass – a special three-month pass that went on sale May 1 and can be used starting June 1.

The pass is available for $40 to those 18 and younger and is valid on OCTA bus routes between June 1 and Aug. 31. It can be purchased online, by phone, at the OCTA store and at various schools throughout the county.
