Consulate of Mexico in Santa Ana encourages residents to go out and explore by bus
ORANGE – The Orange County Transportation Authority is partnering with the local Consulate of Mexico and Santa Ana Unified School District to encourage students and residents of all ages to get out and discover Orange County’s many museums and other cultural landmarks – and to consider taking OC Bus to get there.
On Wednesday, May 1, the Consulate of Mexico in Santa Ana is launching the 2019 G.O. P.A.S.E. program, which is an acronym for the Spanish phrase: “Grandes Oportunidades para Pasear, Aprender, Soprender y Experimentar.”
That loosely translates to “great opportunities to walk around, learn, surprise yourself and experiment.”
A press conference to launch the program is scheduled for 10 a.m. on May 1 at Century High School in Santa Ana. The event is open to the media and invited members of the public.
The G.O. P.A.S.E. program has more than 30 destination partners throughout the county, from the Ocean Institute in Dana Point in the south, to the Santa Ana Zoo, to the La Habra Children’s Museum in north Orange County – and many other stops in between.
The OC Bus system, operated by OCTA, has 59 bus routes that make it easy and affordable to reach any of the program’s destinations. Traveling there using clean public transportation also takes cars off the road and helps the environment.
The cost to ride OC Bus is just $2 per ride or $5 for a day pass, with discounts available for youth and seniors. The OC Bus Youth Summer Pass also will be available beginning June 1 through Aug. 31, allowing youth 6 to 18 unlimited rides for 30 consecutive days for just $20.
