Second Harvest Food Bank and OCTA teaming up to fill buses with food this week
Nov. 3 2011
ORANGE – OCTA is offering an unlimited-use bus pass this holiday season to get riders where they need to go for half the cost.
The Jingle Pass is being sold for $39.99 and is valid from Nov. 15 through Dec. 31 on all local OCTA buses. Quantities are limited and there is a maximum of two passes per household.
In addition, OCTA is teaming up with the Second Harvest Food Bank to fill buses with non-perishable food at malls throughout the county from Nov. 3 through Nov. 7.
“We encourage our riders to help families in need during the holiday season,” said OCTA Chair Patricia Bates, also the 5th District Supervisor. “Giving back not only strengthens our communities, but inspires others to do their part.”
Enter for a chance to win a free Jingle Pass when donating a minimum of five non-perishable food items to the Second Harvest Food Bank during the food drive. No glass containers or expired items please.
“The need for food assistance continues to grow across Orange County, and it’s a challenge to keep our shelves stocked,” said Joe Schoeningh, Director at Second Harvest. “We’re grateful for the opportunity to partner with OCTA, and hope everyone will be able to make some contribution – no matter how small – to help us feed our hungry neighbors this holiday season and beyond.”
The buses will be at the following locations:
- 7 a.m.- 12 p.m., Nov. 3: Main Place Mall, 2800 N. Main St., Santa Ana
