New vanpools will receive gas cards and van lease discounts through April 30
ORANGE – The Orange County Transportation Authority is offering incentives to join its vanpool program during Earth Month, the ideal time to help the environment by taking cars off the road in an effort to reduce pollution.
A vanpool is a group of five or more people who commute together and live within five miles of each other and share a common workplace and schedule. The group splits the costs of the van, including monthly rental, gas and insurance.
Vanpools allow people to save money and time by commuting together each day and using the carpool lanes.
Vanpool groups that join through April 30 will receive a $150 a month discount for the first three months of their lease on the van, along with a $100 prepaid gas card to be used by the group. At least 60 percent of the group must be new to the OCTA vanpool program to qualify for the Earth Month incentives.
These incentives are in addition to the standard $400 a month that vanpools receive from OCTA for participating in the program.
As a thank you for initiating a new vanpool, employer contacts also will be rewarded with a $50 prepaid gas card and entry into a drawing to win an iPad.
