OCTA Searching For Citizens To Serve

Applications for advisory committee are being accepted now through April 11

ORANGE – Pondering the state of public transportation? Thinking about freeway fixes? Metrolink on the mind? The Orange County Transportation Authority (OCTA) might be able to use your assistance.

OCTA is looking for qualified volunteers to serve on its 34-member Citizens Advisory Committee (CAC).

The committee is responsible for providing input and advice on OCTA’s transportation projects, studies and outreach activities. The committee’s tasks include identifying opportunities for community input, recommending methods for obtaining public feedback on specific transportation issues, serving as a liaison between the public and OCTA and commenting on significant transportation issues.

OCTA is seeking individuals with a demonstrated interest in community activities and transportation issues who are willing to dedicate at least 20 hours per year to OCTA meetings and activities. This is an unpaid volunteer position and CAC members are asked to commit to a two-year term. Candidates must be at least 18 years of age and live in Orange County.

“Transportation is a critical part of all of our lives in Orange County, and we need the community’s involvement to keep things moving in the right direction,” said OCTA Chairman Chris Norby, also the fourth district county supervisor.

The CAC meets throughout the year to review upcoming transportation projects and to offer feedback to OCTA staff and board. CAC members also may participate in ad hoc committees, roundtable discussions and special presentations on various transportation projects.

Applications must be received by April 11 and are available at www.octa.net/cac. For more information, contact Ryan Maloney at (714) 560-5451 or rmaloney@octa.net.

The OCTA Board of Directors is expected to select the members by the end of June.
