OCTA Seeks Applicants For Taxpayer Oversight Committee

Members keep an eye on public’s tax dollars

ORANGE – The Orange County Transportation Authority is seeking qualified volunteers to serve on the Taxpayer Oversight Committee. The 11-member committee monitors OCTA’s use of revenue collected through Measure M, the county’s half-cent sales tax for transportation improvements, ensuring that all funds are spent on voter-approved transportation projects.

Applications for the 2014-17 term will be accepted through May 5 to fill two positions, one each in the Second and Third districts. Orange County residents who live in the Second or Third districts are eligible to apply.

The Second District consists of the cities of Costa Mesa, Cypress, Huntington Beach, La Palma, Los Alamitos, Newport Beach, Seal Beach and Stanton, as well as portions of Buena Park and Fountain Valley. It also includes the unincorporated areas of Rossmoor, Sunset Beach and Surfside.

The Third District consists of the cities of Orange, Tustin, Villa Park and Yorba Linda, as well as the Anaheim Hills area in the city of Anaheim and portions of Irvine. It also includes the unincorporated areas of El Modena, Modjeska Canyon, Olive, Orange Park Acres, Santiago Canyon, Silverado, Trabuco Canyon and Tustin Foothills.

For additional information or to request an application, visit OCTA’s website at www.octa.net/toc or contact Alice Rogan at (714) 560-5577.
