Share ideas on how to make Orange County more accessible for walking and cycling
ORANGE – The Orange County Transportation Authority is seeking feedback from the public on how to provide better cycling and walking paths across the county through the online OC Active survey.
OC Active is the first comprehensive countywide effort to identify transportation needs and opportunities for both walking and bicycling.
The OC Active transportation survey, which can be accessed online at www.octa.net/OCActive, allows people to identify what they think would enhance active transportation facilities in the community.
The 18-month plan began in March, and the final plan is expected to be released in summer 2018.
Active transportation is also known as human-powered transportation, including activities such as walking, biking, skating and using a wheelchair. Active transportation has many benefits, including increasing routine physical activity, reducing pollution and having positive impacts on people’s health, happiness and overall quality of life.
To help promote active transportation in schools, OCTA recently hosted a chalk art contest in which seven schools participated and two, Santa Ana’s Valley High School and Irvine’s Jeffery Trial Middle School, won a bike or skateboard rack for their schools.
The OC Active survey is available from now until the end of the year. Take the survey by clicking here or visiting www.octa.net/OCActive and clicking on the “Get Involved” tab at the top of the page.
