Local Graduate Joins OCTA’s Public Communications Department
ORANGE – Laura Teel has been named the new associate community relations specialist for the Orange County Transportation Authority (OCTA).
Teel’s responsibilities include assisting with media relations functions and coordinating the speakers bureau, a program the provides speakers and presentations about transportation to community groups and organizations. She will also work on public outreach for the Go Local program that enhances connections between Metrolink stations and major activity and employment centers.
“I am excited for the opportunity to step into the role of associate community relations specialist,” Teel said. “It is a privilege to work for an organization that keeps the 3 million residents of Orange County moving.”
A graduate of Chapman University, Teel served a successful nine-month internship with OCTA before being hired. She assisted on numerous projects during her internship including the recent Lunar New Year Event and the I-5 Gateway VIP Tour.
Before working at OCTA, she spent six months in Cannes, France where she had the opportunity to work at the international Cannes Film Festival providing public relations assistance for a production company. Teel is a native of Rossmoor in Orange County and currently resides in the city of Orange.
“Laura’s communications skills and knowledge or Orange County are going to be a great asset to serving the residents of the county,” said Joel Zlotnik, manager of Media Relations at OCTA. “We are pleased that she has decided to come on board full time and take on this new role.”
