Rail Safety Program Coming to Irvine Libraries

Reading of rail safety comic book teaches children ages 5 to 12 how to be safe near train tracks

ORANGE – The Orange County Transportation Authority will be at three libraries in Irvine this month to provide a free program about rail safety.

 

The program includes a reading of the Rail Tales comic book featuring Max and Lucy and coloring activities for children ages 5 to 12. Last month, Kids’ Corner rail safety presentations were made at libraries in San Clemente, Tustin and Orange. 

 

OCTA’s Rail Safety education program launched last year in conjunction with the grade crossing safety enhancement projects in an effort to teach the public how to be safe around railroad tracks. OCTA’s rail safety team will be in Irvine at the following dates and times:

 

Saturday, Aug. 7
Orange County Public Library, Heritage Park Branch, 14361 Yale Ave., 10:30 to 11:30 a.m.
Orange County Public Library, University Park Branch, 4512 Sandburg Way, 1:30 to 2:30 p.m.


Wednesday, Aug. 11
Orange County Public Library, Katie Wheeler Branch, 13109 Old Myford Road11 a.m. to noon
