 July 17, 2012

ORANGE –  Residents are invited to celebrate the “greatest show on surf” at the San Clemente Ocean Festival Saturday, July 21. OCTA and Metrolink have teamed up to provide a special offer for the event, enabling the first 100 people at the pre-festival kick-off to receive a free Metrolink roundtrip ticket to the festival.

The pre-festival kick-off event takes place at 8:30 a.m. Saturday at the Fullerton Transportation Center, 120 E. Santa Fe Ave. in Fullerton.

The event will include giveaways, prizes and free food provided by Heroes Bar & Grill, The Slidebar Rock-N-Roll Kitchen and The Night Owl. Distribution for free Metrolink tickets will start at 8:30 a.m. and the train to the San Clemente Pier will depart at 9:28 a.m.

“Each year, the San Clemente Ocean Festival is an entertaining experience for young and old alike and taking Metrolink can add to the fun-filled weekend,” said OCTA Chairman Paul Glaab, also the mayor of Laguna Niguel. “Forget the trouble of finding somewhere to park, riding the train is a convenient, affordable and reliable way to get to the festivities.”

The San Clemente Ocean Festival first began in 1976 as a way to increase participation in the Orange County Beach Games. Now the festival attracts close to 50,000 people from across Southern California.
