March 6, 2012
ORANGE – Residents are invited to celebrate the 41st annual Dana Point Festival of Whales by riding Metrolink to San Juan Capistrano this weekend, March 10 and 11.

“The Festival of Whales presents a unique opportunity for residents and visitors to view one of the great phenomenons of nature right here in Orange County,” said OCTA Chair Paul Glaab, also the mayor of Laguna Niguel. “OCTA is pleased to be able to provide Metrolink as a stress-free and inexpensive way to get to the festival.”

Metrolink tickets are good for half off whale watching excursions and a $69 per night room rate the Dana Point Marina Inn (mention OCTA when booking reservations).

Upon arrival at the San Juan Capistrano station, all Metrolink tickets are good for free connecting OCTA buses to the festival in Dana Point.

More than 130 people took Metrolink from the Orange Station on March 3 to go to the festival and see California gray whales on their annual migration to Baja.

Metrolink service also will be provided to the Swallows Day Parade in San Juan Capistrano on March 24. OCTA will be providing free Metrolink tickets to the Swallows Day Parade to the first 100 guests at the Orange Depot and free parking, entertainment, prizes and food will be provided by Ruby’s Diner and Streamliner Lounge before attendees depart to San Juan Capistrano.
