July 16, 2013

ORANGE – The San Clemente Ocean Festival is making a splash this weekend, July 20-21 and residents are invited to celebrate “The Greatest Show on Surf” by riding Metrolink to the event.

The Orange County Transportation Authority and Metrolink have teamed up to offer free train tickets to and from the San Clemente Pier for the first 50 people that attend the pre-festival event in Fullerton.

The event will take place at 8:30 a.m., Saturday, July 20 at the Fullerton Transportation Center, 120 E. Santa Fe Ave. in Fullerton.

Those who attend will enjoy free food provided by Santa Fe Express Café and live music by the band Headshine. Distribution of free Metrolink tickets will begin at 8:30 a.m. and the train to the San Clemente Pier will depart at 9:23 a.m.

“The San Clemente Ocean Festival is a unique and fun-filled experience for residents of all ages and taking Metrolink is a stress-fee and inexpensive way for people traveling to the festival,” said OCTA Chairman Greg Winterbottom.

The San Clemente Ocean Festival first began in 1976 as a way to increase participation in the Orange County Beach Games. Today, the festival attracts nearly 50,000 people from across Southern California.
