Seal Beach Boulevard Bridge Set For Reconstruction
Lane reductions go into effect beginning Sunday, Aug. 19
Aug. 14, 2012
ORANGE – Lanes on the Seal Beach Boulevard bridge spanning the I-405 will be reduced to one in each direction beginning at 5 a.m. on Sunday, Aug. 19.
As part of the West County Connectors project, this lane configuration will remain in place for the next 11 months. A dedicated lane for emergency vehicles will be put in the center of the one northbound lane and one southbound lane on the bridge.
To prepare for the lane reductions and bridge reconstruction, Seal Beach Boulevard will be closed from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 15 through Saturday, Aug. 18 between North Gate Road and Old Ranch Parkway.
The Seal Beach Boulevard lane reductions will be in place for the next 11 months so crews can reconstruct the western portion of the bridge to accommodate the widening of the San Diego Freeway (I-405). Traffic will then be switched so the eastern portion of the bridge can be reconstructed at which time there will be two travel lanes in each direction.
The $277 million West County Connectors project will improve traffic flow by directly connecting carpool lanes on I-405, I-605 and SR-22. In addition, a second carpool lane will be constructed on I-405 between SR-22 and I-605.
Detailed detours for all closures and project information is available at www.octa.net/westcounty.
