Addition of Route 123 between Anaheim Canyon Metrolink station and Huntington Beach highlights changes to make bus system more efficient.
ORANGE – The Orange County Transportation Authority will make adjustments to 24 bus routes and add a new route beginning Sunday as part of an ongoing effort to provide more efficient and effective service.
A new bus route, Route 123, will replace Routes 21 and 24 from Anaheim to Huntington Beach.
The new Route 123, will run from the Anaheim Canyon Metrolink station, west through Fullerton and Buena Park, then southwest on Valley View and Bolsa Chica streets to Huntington Beach.
The route will have new and better connections for students and teachers to several colleges and universities, including Cal State Fullerton, Hope University and Fullerton College, and Cypress and Golden West colleges.
Riders can connect with other public transit options, including Metrolink commuter rail and OC Flex in Huntington Beach. Stops along the route include Anaheim Canyon and Buena Park Metrolink stations and the Goldenwest Transportation Center.
Route 56 between Garden Grove and Orange will offer increased weekend service with trips that arrive nearly twice as often as before. Stops along that route include MainPlace Mall, Discovery Cube Orange County, CHOC and St. Joseph’s hospitals.
Weekend service on Route 72 between Sunset Beach and Tustin will also have more frequent service and will include trips to The District in Tustin and Mile Square Park and Fountain Valley Regional Hospital.
More frequent service will also be added to Route 143 between La Habra and Brea, making for more convenient service to Fullerton College, Brea Mall and St. Jude Hospital, and easy transfers to rail and other public transit at the Fullerton Transportation Center.
Adjustments to Orange County’s public bus service are made three times a year – in October, February and June – and are part of OCTA’s ongoing effort toward a balanced and sustainable transportation system.
