Changes in Santa Ana to address OC Streetcar construction and others throughout county go into effect Sunday to provide more efficient service through OC Bus 360°
ORANGE – The Orange County Transportation Authority will make adjustments to 24 bus routes beginning Sunday as part of OCTA’s ongoing efforts to provide more efficient and effective service.
The changes to bus routes throughout the county are intended to improve connections and on-time performance, and to provide efficient bus service in Downtown Santa Ana during the ongoing construction of OC Streetcar, which will be Orange County’s first modern electric streetcar opening in 2022.
Adjustments to Orange County’s public bus service are made three times a year – in October, February and June – and are part of OC Bus 360°, OCTA’s ongoing effort to sustain ridership and improve productivity by reallocating service to where the demand is heaviest in the core of the county.
The changes, which take effect Sunday Oct. 13, will include:
* In Santa Ana to address construction of the OC Streetcar:
- Eliminate Stationlink Route 462 in Downtown Santa Ana for OC Streetcar construction
- Implement new Route 862 during OC Streetcar construction every day of the week
- Revise Routes 55 and 83 in the Santa Ana Civic Center area and improve frequency on Route 83 every day of the week.
* Additional changes include:
- Extending Route 26 to Yorba Linda Boulevard and Imperial Highway in Yorba Linda every day of the week and reducing frequency during peak hours
- Extending Route 59 trips during mid-day hours to The District in Tustin
- Adding one additional trip on Route 79 to the University of California, Irvine on weekdays
- Removing summer schedules from routes 1 and 89 to address seasonal demand
- Adjusting schedules of Stationlink routes based on upcoming changes to Metrolink schedules.
These changes were approved by the OCTA board following outreach and input from the public.
