Construction crews reopened the eastbound Lakeview on-ramp to make commuting easier for those traveling along the Riverside Freeway (SR-91) in time for the New Year.
The reopening of the ramp marks the completion of ramp reconstruction and realignment operations on the SR-91 Westbound and Eastbound Lane Addition Project.
This $75-million freeway improvement project adds 12 lane miles to a pivotal stretch of the SR-91 between the Costa Mesa Freeway (SR-55) and Eastern Toll Road (SR-241).
In total, crews have successfully wrapped-up reconstruction and re-alignment of 15 on- and off-ramps and opened 12 lane miles to peak hour traffic in the last year. As a result, the project is now on track to be completed within the first quarter of 2013.
Until then, construction crews will be finalizing striping in both the west and eastbound directions as well completing a 1.5-mile sound wall, an associated maintenance road and other operational tasks.
This project is funded by Orange County’s Measure M program as well as state transportation dollars. Along with OCTA, Caltrans District 12 and SEMA Construction collaborate on this project.
