OCTA Board Member Is Recognized For Her Achievements In Transportation
ORANGE – The California Transportation Foundation (CTF) named Carolyn Cavecche, Orange County Transportation Authority (OCTA) board member and mayor of the city of Orange, as Elected Official of the Year for 2007.
Cavecche was recognized for her commitment and dedication to enhancing transportation as chairman of the OCTA board.
“We were extremely pleased at CTF to award Carolyn Cavecche for the tremendous work she pioneered in Orange County,” said Ann Olson, Chair of the CTF Awards Committee. “She showed tremendous leadership in moving transportation forward in creative ways and her accomplishments are very impressive.”
Cavecche was instrumental in establishing a Renewed Measure M Early Action Plan that will deliver $1.5 billion in transportation improvements in the next five years and worked to secure $385.5 million in statewide bonds. She also led the successful pilot project on the Garden Grove Freeway (SR-22) that allows drivers to enter and exit carpool lanes freely.
“It’s an honor to be recognized by this organization,” said Cavecche. “Improving transportation is essential to ensuring the quality of life for Orange County residents and I look forward to continuing this effort.”
The CTF is a non-profit public benefit corporation dedicated to providing support to the needs of transportation agencies and professionals in California. An elected official is recognized each year for his or her outstanding achievement in transportation.
At the end of last year, the Orange County chapter of Women’s Transportation Seminar recognized Carolyn Cavecche as Woman of the Year in 2007. She also received the Orange Chamber of Commerce’s 2007 Commerce Award for exceptional economic development results.
Cavecche has been a member of the OCTA board of directors since March 2004. In 2006 she was selected to serve as vice chairman of the board of directors and was unanimously selected to serve as chairman in 2007. She will be presented with the award at the CTF luncheon in June.
