Study looking at long-term solutions to traffic in Central County
May 26, 2010
ORANGE – A study to examine long-term solutions to traffic in Central County is under way and transportation planners are seeking the public’s feedback on solutions to help meet future travel demand.
In central Orange County, travel conditions are expected to exceed capacity by approximately 150,000 vehicles per day by 2035, resulting in increased traffic.
The Central County Corridor Major Investment Study integrates planning and public outreach to develop a preferred set of transportation improvements, known as the locally preferred strategy, that will help meet future traffic needs. The strategy will incorporate transit, street and freeway enhancements and serve as a blueprint for future transportation improvements in the region.
Improvements that will be presented for feedback at the open houses include implementing signal synchronization, enhancing transit service, improving freeway chokepoints and increasing park and ride capacity.
Residents will have an opportunity to learn more about the study at the open houses and provide feedback on the list of projects being considered for inclusion in the locally preferred strategy.
The following open houses are scheduled from 5 to 7 p.m.:
Thursday, June 10 at Evans Elementary School, 12281 Nelson St. in Garden Grove
Wednesday, June 16 at Monroe Elementary School, 16225 Newhope St. in Fountain Valley
Thursday, June 17 at Tustin Library, 345 East Main St. in Tustin
